Arabic SDS for the Gulf: what it is and why your regulatory team needs it
A safety data sheet, often still called an MSDS, explains in 16 sections the hazards, composition, storage, transport, first aid and safe handling of a chemical product. In the GCC the SDS and label are usually required in Arabic, with English added for regional distribution.
When you export a chemical product to Saudi Arabia, the product file usually passes through the SABER platform run by the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO). Accredited conformity assessment bodies issue the Product Certificate of Conformity (PCoC) and the Shipment Certificate of Conformity (SCoC). This step needs accurate, consistent documents, starting with the Arabic SDS, classification data and label.
Chemply prepares these documents from your existing EU CLP or OSHA HazCom SDS, reviews the classification against GSO GHS requirements and writes the Arabic text in precise technical language.

Frequently asked questions
What are SASO and SABER, and why do they matter?
SASO, the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization, sets technical regulations for products entering Saudi Arabia. SABER is the online platform where the Shipment Certificate of Conformity (SCoC) and Product Certificate of Conformity (PCoC) needed for customs clearance are issued. Hazardous chemicals need a compliant SDS and an Arabic label as part of the SABER file.
Do I need an Arabic SDS for the GCC?
Yes. GSO GHS (GSO 2430 and related standards), adopted across the GCC, requires safety data sheets and labels in Arabic. English is accepted as an additional language, but Arabic text is mandatory to place chemical products on the Gulf market.
Which Gulf countries does Chemply serve?
We serve all GCC member states: Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain and Oman. We prepare safety data sheets and labels to GSO GHS, ESMA and SASO requirements, with Arabic documentation.
How long does a GCC SDS take?
A standard Arabic SDS is delivered within 3 to 5 business days. Converting an existing EU CLP or OSHA HazCom SDS into Arabic is usually delivered within 48 to 72 hours.
Do you provide Arabic GHS labels?
Yes. We design and prepare GSO GHS compliant labels with hazard pictograms, signal words, hazard and precautionary statements in Modern Standard Arabic, with an optional English version for regional distribution.
What is the difference between an MSDS and an SDS?
There is no difference in content. MSDS is the older common name (material safety data sheet) and SDS is the name used under the UN GHS. Both refer to the 16 section safety data sheet that explains the hazards of a chemical product and how to handle it safely.
Does Chemply issue SABER certificates?
No. Conformity certificates on SABER are issued by accredited conformity assessment bodies. Chemply prepares the Arabic SDS, labels and classification documents your product file needs, so the file is complete and ready when you submit it.
How do ordering and payment work?
Send your product details through the form and we send a fixed quote within one business day. After confirmation and payment, our technical team prepares the documents and delivers them electronically as PDF, ready to upload to SABER or submit to regulators.
